GM Holowaty Retires after 25 Years!

The Homecoming game on October 5, 2024 was a special evening as the SVC Hockey Family recognized 25 year GM Tom Holowaty on his retirement. “Big Tom” resurrected the ice hockey program in 1999-2000 when his son, Tim, and a number of students on campus were eager to bring the team that ended play in its first era from 1969-1970 through the 1982-1983 season. Tom guided the program through 494 games, brought 226 students to the school, managed one NCHA National Tournament appearance, three ACHA National Tournament Teams, two Kaleina Cup squads, and was at the helm when Saint Vincent one its first ever CHE playoff winner in 2023-2024. He went out a winner!

The photo on the left was from the 1999-2000 season. L-R Big Tom, 15 year head coach Mike Ziemianski, and Al Reinshagen who played goal for SVC in 1969-1970 and was the head coach from 1970 through 1976. Photo redux. 25 years later, Tom, current head coach Brett Martz, who also was team Captain the first three years under Coach Ziemianski and Coach Z. It truly is a family.

On behalf of the entire SVC family, thank you Tom. You are a legend!

Oh, and we have no idea how many pizza’s Tom really ordered. Just think, a lot of them!
