Tom Holowaty (Left) rallied a group of students and combined them with an incoming freshman class to resurrect the ice hockey team for the 1999-2000 season. He contacted Mike Ziemianski (Center) C’79 and former player to be the first head coach, a position he would hold for 15 years and over 300 games. On the right is Al Reinshagen who coached the team from 1970-1971 to 1975-1976, ending his tenure after Ziemianski’s freshman year. Al returned to coach the goalies during the 99-00 campaign.
Continuity has always ben a big part of the SVC Hockey tradition as this picture shows. That continues to this day as Brett Martz, who Captained the team from 1999 to 2002 and played for Coach Z. now has the reins of the on ice program as head coach. Tom Holowaty entered the 2015-2016 season as his 17’th as the GM.
